Episode 2 of The Ancient Magus’s Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm OVA is now streaming on Crunchyroll. Same as the first one, the episode is a little over 22 minutes long and explores the continuation of Gabriel’s story.
The second part of the OVA was released on March 10, 2022, bundled with the 17th volume of The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga. The final episode will be out in September of this year. Watch the trailer below:
The new Magus’ Bride installment is technically an OAD (original animation disc) as all the episodes are being released as part of the special editions of manga volumes.
Studio Kafka is animating The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm, and this is the studio’s first major work. Kazuaki Terasawa (Overlord II as episode director) is directing the OVA, while Hirotaka Kato is doing character designs. Kato also worked on season 1 of the anime, as an animation director. Aya Takaha and Yoko Yonaiyama wrote the script for the OVA. Junichi Matsumoto composed the music.
The first season of Ancient Magus’ Bride aired in 2017 and had 24 episodes. Before the TV anime premiered, The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star OVA, which served as an introduction to the series, aired from 2016 to 2017 and had 3 episodes. WIT Studio animated both.
