Hero Classroom Anime Gets Teaser Visual, 2023 Premiere

The previously-announced anime adaptation of the Hero Classroom (Classroom for Heroes, Eiyu Kyōshitsu) light novel has released a teaser visual, along with a 2023 premiere date. Studios Actas is animating the series, with direction from Keiichirou Kawaguchi.

Based on the original work by Shin Araki, the upcoming anime series will have its script written by Naoki Hayashi, and Kosuke Kawamura will be doing the character designs and serving as the chief animation director.

“I realize with sincerity that having a work adapted is what I really want as an original author. When it is a novel, it is the illustration. When it is a comic book, it is the timeline. And in animation, there is movement and voice. Each of these elements is something that does not exist in the written medium.”

The light novel has been serialized in Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko imprint since 2015. It received a manga adaptation, which has been serialized on Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan since September 2016. It also received a separate manga titled Classroom for Heroes: Empress of Flame (Eiyu Kyoshitsu: Honoo no Empress), serialized on Ultra Jump from February 2015 to August 2015.

Comikey has licensed the manga digitally in English for North America, describing the plot as follows:
Blade is a carefree transfer student whose only goal is to make friends with his classmates at Rosewood Academy, a school for heroes-in-training. On the surface, Blade seems like an ordinary boy, but he is hiding a miserable secret with seeds that start long ago, with the defeat of the Demon King at the hands of the Great Hero. Join this new class of friends as they unravel the mystery surrounding Blade, and journey toward becoming full-fledged Heroes!
