The upcoming anime series Oyukiumi no Kaina has released its teaser visual, a trailer, and an announcement about the main cast. The series is created by manga artist Tsutomu Nihei (Blame series) and will be animated by Polygon Pictures.
The main cast for the anime include:
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kaina
- Rie Takahashi as Liliha
- Maaya Sakamoto as Amerote
- Kenyuu Horiuchi as Atland Kokuo
- Nobuyuki Hiyama as Handagir
- Tomokazu Sugita as Ngapoge
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Orinoga
- Ayumu Murase as Yaona
Hiroaki Ando is directing the series, and Sadayuki Murai is doing the series composition. Kohta Yamamoto is doing the music composition. It will air in Japan in January 2023, with special screenings of episodes 1 to 4 will be shown at the upcoming Crunchyroll Expo 2022 on August 5.
The official website describes the plot as follows:
A world blanketed in an endless and ever-growing ocean of snow. The people eke out a living, either huddled around the roots of enormous trees dotting the surface, or high in the canopy, which spreads over the planet’s atmosphere. A chance meeting between Kaina, a youth from the canopy, and Liliha, a young woman from the surface, sets off a chain of events that will change the fate of the world.
