Mariya Ise shared a letter with her fans in which she announced her divorce by saying that she has ended her marriage and that she is now raising her child “as a single mother.” The voice actress shared that her child is soon starting school and that she looks forward to forming new friendships outside of her field of work. Mariya says that she will continue to watch over her child’s growth as a mother and voice actor. She ends the note by thanking everyone for the continued support and encouragement.
The voice actress, who is reprising her role as Reg in Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun this season, announced marriage in January of 2014. Later that year she shared that she gave birth to her first child.
Mariya Ise was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture on September 25, 1988. Seeing Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke sparked her interest in acting. Over the years she has voiced a number of fan-favorite characters, including Killua Zoldyck in 2011 Hunter x Hunter, Levy McGarden in the Fairy Tail series, Ray in Promised Neverland, and Foo Fighters in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Ise has also voiced Guila in the anime adaptation of The Seven Deadly Sins manga and its side movies, Sophie Omersson in The Forest of Piano, Yukina in WIT Studio’s Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and more. She will be voicing Azami Kurotani in the upcoming Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror anime. The adaptation of Junji Ito’s work has recently been delayed once again.
