Patora Fuyuhara’s In Another World With My Smartphone light novel was originally launched on the Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel service and has been serialized with art by Nekotama since April 2013. The series was picked up by Hobby Japan’s novel label HJ Novels in 2015 and published with art by Eiji Usatsuka. The latest, 27th volume, was released in October 2022. A manga adaptation by Soto is currently being serialized in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine. Studio Ashi Productions, which was Production Reed at that time, animated the anime’s first season which aired from July to September 2017 with a total of 12 episodes.
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English and released the 26th volume as an e-book in October 2022. The physical copy is scheduled to be published on June 12, 2023. The official website describes the plot of the series as:
After a freak accident involving some lightning winds up zapping him dead, 15-year-old Mochizuki Touya wakes up to find himself face-to-face with God. “I am afraid to say that I have made a bit of a blunder…” laments the old coot. But all is not lost! God says that he can reincarnate Touya into a world of fantasy, and as a bonus, he gets to bring his smartphone along with! So begins Touya’s adventure in a new, anachronistic pseudo-medieval world. Friends! Laughs! Tears! Inexplicable Deus ex Machina! He sets off on a journey full of wonder as he absentmindedly travels from place to place, following whatever goal catches his fancy. The curtains lift on an epic tale of swords, sorcery, and smartphone apps!
