In Another World With My Smartphone web novel officially ended on November 18 following a serialization of over 11 and a half years. The series began in April 2013 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, where it published its last chapter earlier this month. Patora Fuyuhara posted the final two chapters and a “prologue,” along with the following illustration.
The series concludes with 636 chapters, including the epilogue. Fuyuhara commented on the conclusion:
“Wow… it’s really over now… I feel a sense of accomplishment, but also a bittersweet sadness. That said, the book releases are still ongoing. There should be three more volumes, with the series likely concluding at Volume 33. The web version is more of a prototype, and anything left unfinished there will be added to the book version.”
Hobby Japan acquired the novel and began publishing it as a light novel with illustrations by Eiji Usatsuka in May 2015. There is also a manga adaptation by Soto, which has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace since November 2016. J-Novel Club licensed the novel in English, while Yen Press licensed the manga.
The series got an anime adaptation by Production Reed in 2017, and it aired from July to September 2017. Season 2 was animated by J.C.Staff, airing from April to June 2023. The main voice cast included:
- Katsumi Fukuhara as Toya Mochizuki
