KonoSuba's Aqua and Megumin in Santa Costume Featured on the Monthly Comic Alive Magazine Cover

KADOKAWA’s Monthly Comic Alive featured KonoSuba series’ Aqua and Megumin in Santa costumes on the cover in the newest issue (January 2023), which was released on Saturday. The cover visual was drawn by Kasumi Morino to celebrate Christmas and the 1000th day since the series’ smartphone game KonoSuba: Fantastic Days was released on February 27, 2020. The manga artist has been drawing the game’s manga adaptation since March 2022 in the magazine. The first volume was released in July 2022.

The cover of the issue shows Santa-costumed Megumin and Aqua holding a big white bag. The magazine compiles two bonuses; KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Megumin smartphone ring, and a special book cover for the light novel Classroom of the Elite Year 2 volume 8.

The official Twitter account of the magazine also posted the cover visual in a textless version.

Natsume Akatsuki originally serialized the KonoSuba series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel service from December 2012 to October 2013. KADOKAWA’s label Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko picked and published the light novel with art by Kurone Mishima. It has a total of 19 volumes including two volumes, which compile short stories. It was announced with a new illustration that the series surpassed 10 million circulating copies in November 2021. The light novel inspired anime adaptations; the first two seasons by Studio DEEN aired from January to March 2016 and 2017 with a total of 10 episodes with an OVA respectively. Studio Drive is currently animating new adaptations, a third season and Megumin spin-off anime.
