One Piece Film Red, the latest anime film from the One Piece franchise, earned over ¥19 billion (≒$144 million) with 13.79 million attendees in 157 days since its premiere on August 6, 2022 in Japan. The official Twitter account of the film posted a commemorative illustration of Zoro and Sanji drawn by the Eiichiro Oda on Tuesday. The creator drew a wanted poster of Gordon for the ¥18 billion (≒$136 million) earning milestone announced in early November 2022. The film will finish showing in Japanese theaters on January 29, 2023.
One Piece Film Red grossed over ¥2.25 billion (~$17 million) with 1.57 million attendees in the opening weekend in Japan, which made the biggest opening-weekend numbers when it comes to both the audience and earnings among films of 2022. It’s also the best-performing film in One Piece‘s history and became the highest-grossing film with the biggest number of attendees in 2022 as well. It has been screened worldwide and hit theaters in the US in early November. Box Office Mojo reported that the film grossed $9,475,251 in the opening weekend (November 4-6) in the country.
