Elliot Gindi, American voice actor and the voice of Tighnari in the Genshin Impact game, has been fired following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. The official statement made on the game’s social media accounts says:
Dear Travelers, After communications with the voice recording agency, we hereby confirm that Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor for Tighnari will no longer be voicing the character in subsequent versions due to a breach of contract.
At present, we are communicating with the voice recording agency regarding matters of casting and re-recording. We will gradually replace Tighnari’s existing in-game voice lines, and issue these updates in the corresponding announcements. Thank you for your support, Travelers!
One of Gindi’s former Twitch/Discord moderators shared a document on February 8, outlining allegations of sexual misconduct made by fans, some of which were underage. In the days following the reveal, the number of accusations grew as more victims came forward. Gindi posted an apology tweet, in which he admits that he sent the messages but claims he did not know that the persons in question were underage.
The English cast of Genshin Impact publicly condemned Gindi’s behavior and called for his dismissal after the allegations came to light. Paimon’s English voice actor, Corina Boettger, posted on their TikTok saying that Gindi contacted them and told them a “watered down” version of the events. Boettger also said that they were in touch with the rest of the cast and that they contacted the studio and sent them “everything.” They added that HoyoVerse did the right thing by firing him. Elliot Gindi joined the Genshin Impact cast in August of 2022 with the Sumeru update and was often present for group cast streams on various Twitch channels.
