I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World Episode 1 Already Got the MC Way Too Overpowered

This season’s OP MC anime (or at least one) is definitely I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too, and the premiere of episode 1 already showed the main character become insanely overpowered. The episode began by introducing the overweight Yuuya Tenjou walking around and thinking to himself about his circumstances. He desires to help someone despite everything, and he gets the chance when he sees some hoodlums assaulting a girl. I honestly expected him to die here and get isekaid, but he just got beat up pretty badly and walked away.

We then learn of the horrible things he’s had to endure because of his looks. He always got bullied and beat up, and he was even mistreated by his parents who preferred his two beautiful siblings. The only person who actually had affection towards him was his grandfather, who left everything to him upon passing away. This caused the rest of the family to despise him even more, and it was honestly so depressing that I still expected him to die halfway through. Yuuya himself began to feel increasingly bad, which is when his desperation ended up revealing a hidden room in the bathroom and started his adventure.

The new world is clearly where his grandfather resided and from where he brought the mysterious gifts and souvenirs. He’s also definitely the Sage who left the house and all the absurdly strong items. The absurdity didn’t stop with the items, as a level 300 Bloody Ogre immediately appeared. Yuuya threw one of the weapons that basically does everything on its own and one-shot it, which got his own level from 1 to 100. Afterwards we see him practice with all the items and acquire more skills, but it’s safe to see he’s already far too overpowered after a single episode. I look forward to seeing him meet people in the other world and seeing how he fares against whatever comes against him.

An interesting aspect that is different from most isekai anime I watched is the fact that he doesn’t get trapped in the new world (either by dying or getting transported). We also saw his body mysteriously change to a model, probably matching his level from the other world. I enjoyed the fact he can freely travel between the two, and expect the girl he saved before to meet him at the new school and become the main romantic interest (she was on the key visual on the real world side after all). The character design and animation were also enjoyable, and the only thing that bothered me was to do with the story. It’s the fact that he woke up in his new body, saw his abs, had a higher point of view and generally must have felt completely different, but he still managed to spend all the days training in the other world without realizing anything.

I couldn’t believe that he had to go to school with everyone literally commenting how hot he was, get into his seat and then be surprised when the others were shocked with him saying his name. Even then, he had to go the bathroom and only then realize something was really different… But well, an OP MC has to be dense in some ways as well. I still look forward to seeing what he ends up doing in the new world and how much stronger he will get.
