Studio Heartbreak's The Lovers Gets Teaser Trailer, Animated Film Set in Dark Fantasy Philippines

The Lovers, the upcoming animated thriller film set in a dark fantasy Philippines from independent animation studio Studio Heartbreak, has released a teaser trailer. The film project, which is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter has already surpassed US$200,000, which is three times more than its initial goal of US$60,000. Check out the trailer below:

The Kickstarter page describes The Lovers animated film as:
The Lovers is an independent animated film that follows Sara Lim Baylon, a reluctant seafood chef from Binondo, Manila. As the youngest member of her family to run their restaurant, Sara faces the daunting pressure to live up to her late father’s reputation and keep the business afloat. When the governor’s inauguration dinner is planned at the restaurant, featuring a sirena as the centerpiece, Sara finds herself drawn into a dangerous affair with the mythical creature.

Vanille Velasquez, known for her roles in League of Legends, Valorant, and Final Melody, is voicing the seafood chef Sara Lim Baylon. Meanwhile, Dawn M. Bennett, known for her voice acting in Fire Emblem, Honkai: Star Rail, and My Hero Academia will voice the siren (mermaid).

The Lovers is Studio Heartbreak’s first major film work. The independent animation studio’s team members have worked for studios such as Powerhouse, Pierrot, MAPPA, and The Line while contributing to titles such as Attack on Titan, Legend of Pipi, Chiaki’s Journey, and Boruto among others.
