The isekai villainess light novel series Akuyaku Reijo no Naka no Hito (The One Within the Villainess) is getting an anime adaptation. An X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime was also launched on Friday, and an announcement visual was revealed. Details of the studio, staff, cast, and premiere date are not yet announced.
Akuyaku Reijo no Naka no Hito is a light novel series written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki (Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex). Originally launched on the publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2020, Ichijinsha later acquired the title and has been publishing the series under their Ichijinsha Novels light novel imprint since February 2021.
Nazuna Shiraume illustrated the manga adaptation and serialized it on Comic Lake from November 2021 to May 2025. The manga ranked eighth in AnimeJapan’s “Manga We Want to See Animated” poll in 2025.
The story centers Emi Kobayashi, who finds herself reincarnated as Remilia, her favorite character from an otome game. Her admiration for Remilia led Emi to give her the happy life she truly deserves. However, her plans quickly begin to take a turn after the arrival of the game’s original heroine.
