Amane Shindo’s talent agency HiBiKi issued a statement regarding continued attacks on the 19-year-old voice actress. According to the statement, the voice actress remains a target of slander and defamation on social media and the agency is ready to reaffirm their stance on protecting her from online harassment.
According to the agency, despite the filing of legal complaints and the arrest of a perpetrator in 2020, slander and harmful remarks against Amane Shindo have not subsided as multiple accounts persist to express ill intentions toward her. The agency is alarmed and has sought legal advice to press criminal charges against individuals associated with malicious online activity against Shindo.
The agency also recalls and goes into detail about the past attacks Shindo experienced on social media in their statement, swearing to take strict measures against malicious remarks to protect the voice actress and her image. Taking into account the damages inflicted by past instances, malicious remarks include but are not limited to, statements containing insults such as “pig,” “ugly,” and “fat,” any allegations involving the voice actress in makura eigyou (“pillow business,” engaging in sexual activity in exchange for gains in career), and unsolicited images of pictures being burned or cut into pieces, which are deemed acts of intimidation.
Fans also responded to the announcement, showing their support for Shindo who is likely to be having a hard time. Some even dropped their guesses on who the perpetrator might be by scrutinizing the replies under Shindo’s recent tweets.
Amane Shindo made her debut as a voice actress in 2018 and rose to fame for her role as Mashiro Kurata in BanG Dream! franchise. Born in 2004, she is a rising star in the voice-acting industry, as she also just recently graduated from Horikoshi High School. She is also the vocalist of the all-girl band Morfonica of the BanG Dream! franchise and currently voices Mashiro Kurata in BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! and Megumi Okura from the third season of Cardfight!! Vanguard: will+Dress.
