AnimEigo Introduces Bubblegum Crisis: Perfect Collection Blu-ray

The iconic Bubblegum Crisis anime is getting a new, third Blu-ray edition by AnimEigo this February. Originally released between 1987 and 1991, the eight-episode OVA will be once again available in full HD (1080p). The price for the “Perfect Collection” Blu-ray is $49.99 and the pre-orders are now open. The release features:

• Original vintage promos for Episodes 4 & 5
• Bye² Knight Sabers – Holiday in Bali voice actor special
• Recut music video (HD) collection
• Blu-ray trailer
• New interview with Designer Kenichi Sonoda

In addition to the original Japanese audio, dubbed versions in English, Spanish (Castilian), Catalan, French, Italian, and newly reconstructed Korean (eps 1-3 only) are also available. Subtitles come in English, English SDH, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Korean. The previous two Bubblegum Crisis Blu-ray releases came out in 2014 and 2015.

Bubblegum Crisis was animated by AIC. It had multiple directors: Katsuhito Akiyama (1-3), Hiorki Hayashi (4), Masami Obari (5-6), Fumihiko Takayama (7), and Hiroaki Gouda (8). The series is an original work, created by Toshimitsu Suzuki. Over the years, Bubblegum Crisis got a few sequels and franchise additions, including Bubblegum Crash!, Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 TV anime, and Parasite Dolls.
