The upcoming BLACK TORCH anime revealed a new key visual and main trailer, while also announcing its opening and ending theme songs ahead of its July 4, 2026 premiere. It will stream on Crunchyroll.
The series first announced the anime adaptation back in March, surprising with its return following the manga’s cancellation in 2018.
The opening theme, “FREEZE ME UP,” will be performed by SiM, while I Don’t Like Mondays. performs the ending theme “Groooovy.” Both songs can be heard for the first time in the newly released trailer.
The second key visual features the main character Jiro Azuma with his mononoke partner Rago. Fellow members of the anti-mononoke special operations unit known as Black Torch also featured. The visual also includes major antagonists Koga and Tenki.
The voice cast was previously introduced in a trailer and includes:
- Ryota Suzuki as Azuma Jiro
- Yoji Ueda as Rago
- Sayaka Senbongi as Ichika Kishimojin
- Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara
- Junichi Suwabe as Ryosuke Shiba
- Reina Ueda as Usami

BLACK TORCH originally ran in Jump Square, a monthly magazine published by Shueisha, from February 2017 to April 2018. It later shifted to the Shonen Jump+ digital platform, where it continued until wrapping up in July 2018. The story has a total of 19 chapters, which were compiled into a total of five volumes. The English license was acquired by VIZ Media, with the first volume released on August 7, 2018.
