Dandadan Heads to Crunchyroll and Netflix This October

The upcoming Dandadan anime adaptation will be streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix this fall. The title of the anime, slated to premiere in October, has been stylized as DAN DA DAN for overseas release. Science SARU is animating the highly-anticipated adaptation with Fuga Yamashiro as the director. Hiroshi Seko will be in charge of the series composition and scriptwriting, while Naoyuki Onda is doing character designs. Kensuke Ushio will be composing the music.

Dandan anime revealed the long version of the trailer and cast information at December’s Jump Festa event. The cast includes:

  • Shion Wakayama as Momo Ayase
  • Natsuki Hanae as Ken Okarun Takakura
  • Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny
  • Kazuya Nakai as Serpoian Alien

Dandadan anime will adapt the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu. The manga began started serialization in 2021 on  Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service. Prior to the publication, Tatsu worked as Tatsuki Fujimoto’s assistant on Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man, as well as Yuji Kaku’s assistant on Jigokuraku.

Crunchyroll describes the plot of the Dandadan anime as:
This is a story about Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. After Momo rescues Okarun from being bullied, they begin talking. However, an argument ensues between them since Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens exist, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts exist. 
To prove to each other what they believe in is real, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital where a UFO has been spotted and Okarun goes to a tunnel rumored to be haunted. To their surprise, they each encounter overwhelming paranormal activities that transcend comprehension. Amid these predicaments, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to overcome these new dangers! Their fateful love begins as well!?
The story of the occult battle and adolescence starts!
