The Summer 2022 anime season is only days away, and there will be some interesting new shows along with some really hype sequels! Here’s a quick look at 7 of the most anticipated sequel shows, some of which have waited for years to continue:

The Devil is a Part-Timer! Season 2

The Devil is a Part-Timer! Season 2 is the first on the Summer 2022 sequels list, having waited over 9 years to continue. Season 1 of the harem comedy anime was animated by studio White Fox, and it ran for 13 episodes from April to June 2013. Meanwhile, studio 3Hz will be in charge of the production in the sequel, set to premiere on July 14. You can watch the latest trailer:

Yen Press licensed both The Devil is a Part-Timer light novel (written by Satoshi Wagahara, illustrated by 029 (Oniku)) and manga series (Akio Hiragi) in English. Season 2 is set to continue in volume 3, which they describe:
Do you want fries with your hellfire?
A portal opens in the courtyard of the Devil’s Castle (a tiny walk-up). From it emerges a little girl who calls the Devil King “papa” and the Hero “mama.” Ashiya and Chiho are shocked to discover that Maou and Emi had that kind of relationship, but nobody’s more surprised than the two new “parents.” Will Maou the breadwinner be able to make the grade when it comes to child rearing? And will this spell the end of the starry-eyed Emi’s romantic ambitions?

Classroom of the Elite Season 2

Another anime that’s getting a long-awaited sequel in the Summer 2022 season is Classroom of the Elite. The show’s first season ended in September 2017, and fans had almost lost all hope due to the changes in the anime compared to the light novel. However, both seasons 2 and 3 were announced, with the first sequel by studio Lerche set to begin on July 4. Watch the latest trailer:

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the original light novel (written by Shogo Kinugasa and illustrated by Tomose Shunsaku) and the manga (Yuyu Ichino) in English, and they describe the story:
Students of the prestigious Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School are given remarkable freedom—if they can win, barter, or save enough points to work their way up the ranks! Ayanokoji Kiyotaka has landed at the bottom in the scorned Class D, where he meets Horikita Suzune, who’s determined to rise up the ladder to Class A. Overlord IV (Season 4)

Moving on with the second isekai sequel coming in Summer 2022, Overlord IV (Season 4) is set to begin on July 5. Coming 4 years since season 3 aired from July to October 2018, studio Madhouse will once again be in charge of the production. Ainz is returning next week, and you can watch the latest trailer:

Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV (Season 4)

Another fantasy anime coming to Summer 2022, the Danmachi IV (Season 4) anime is set to begin on July 22. Bell Cranel and Hestia didn’t have to wait as long as the previous entries on this list, with the show’s third season having ended in December 2020. Studio J.C. Staff is returning to animate, and you can watch the latest trailer:

Yen Press licensed the DanMachi light novel by Fujino Onori in English. Season 4 will continue from volume 12, which they describe:

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Season 2)

Made in Abyss season 2 is the next Summer 2022 anime sequel, with the story set to continue after the Made in Abyss Movie 3: Dawn of the Deep Soul movie. Titled Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, this is only the 2nd TV series for the franchise, with there being 3 movies as well (2 of them were compilations of the first season). It will premiere on July 6, and you can watch the latest trailer:

Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 2

Nearing the end of the Summer 2022 sequel anime list, Rent-a-Girlfriend season 2 is set to begin on July 1. The first season ended in September 2020, and studio TMS Entertainment is returning to handle the production. You can watch the latest trailer:

Kodansha licensed the manga by Reiji Miyajima in English, and they describe the story:

Shadows House Season 2

The last sequel on the Summer 2022 list is Shadows House, which is returning almost exactly a year since the first season ended in July 2021. Lilico and Kate will be back on July 8, and studio CloverWorks will once again be in charge of the production. You can watch the latest trailer:
