The upcoming Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru (If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student) anime unveiled its first trailer on Thursday with the main cast: Daisuke Hirakawa as Keisuke Niijima, Aoi Yuki as Takae Niijima / Marika Shiraishi, and Maiko Nomura as Mai Niijima. The series is slated to premiere in October.
Studio Signpost is animating the series with Noriyuki Abe as the director. Sawako Hirabayashi does the series composition and script while Narihito Sekikawa illustrates the character designs. The anime previously revealed a teaser visual.
If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student is based on a manga by Yayu Murata and was serialized in Houbunsha’s Weekly Manga Times magazine and had a total of 111 chapters. Murata released the final, 14th volume on March 16, 2023, ending the four-year run (it debuted in 2018, with the first volume released in April 2019).
The plot follows a single father whose wife died, leaving him alone with their daughter. One day he meets a reincarnation of his wife – but she is an elementary school student. The story explores loss and complicated feelings of moving on after losing a loved one.
