Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is taking a short break before the new arc begins at the end of the month but that did not stop the franchise from revealing updated character designs for Suguru Geto, Mahito and Choso. Geto played an important role in the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, which just ended, but the other two have not been seen since the first season.
Takahiro Sakurao, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Daisuke Namikawa voice the trio in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. The upcoming arc is the infamous Shibuya Incident arc. It will begin on August 31 with a new opening theme song, “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu. The first opening song of the season was Tatsuya Kitani’s “Where Our Blue Is,” while “Akari” by Soushi Sakiyama was used as the ending. Studio MAPPA is animating the sequel and the staff includes:
- Director: Shota Goshozono (Ranking of Kings animation director, Chainsaw Man episode director)
- Assistant Director: Ryota Aikei (Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS unit director)
- Series Composition/ Screenplay: Hiroshi Seko
- Character Design: Tadashi Hiramatsu
- Sub Character Design: Sayaka Koiso
- Art Director: Junichi Higashi
Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. MAPPA also animated the first season of the TV anime adaptation, as well as the prequel movie titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The plot follows Yuji Itadori who accidentally becomes a vessel of one of the most dangerous curses ever – Sukuna. Soon he finds out that there are people who fight curses and that they want to kill him to minimize the danger to society. However, he meets Satoru Gojo, one of the most powerful exorcists of modern times. Gojo offers him a way out by letting him study at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, where he’ll learn how to control his (and Sukuna’s) powers and be of use to exorcists, known as jujutsu sorcerers. But, something far more sinister is brewing and Yuji’s school days might be cut short…
