The Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress anime has released a brand-new anime short titled Mumei Ranman as part of its newly launched 10th Anniversary Project. Produced to commemorate the release of the upcoming Mumei Ranman scale figure, the special reunites director Tetsuro Araki and most of the original staff behind the 2016 anime.
The short anime primarily focuses on Mumei as she dresses up in hopes of catching Ikoma’s attention. However, their quiet moment is interrupted when the Kotetsujo comes under attack by Kabane. The newly animated project features an original story by Araki, with WIT STUDIO returning for the animation production. The staff includes:

The ending theme is “ninelie” by Aimer with chelly (EGOIST), with lyrics, composition, and arrangement by Hiroyuki Sawano.
Alongside the animated short, the franchise also unveiled a commemorative illustration titled “Mumei Ranman” by original character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto. The visual serves as the first major reveal for the anime’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is set in Hinomoto, an island nation in the Far East during the transition from the early modern to modern era, where humanity fights against the Kabane, immortal monsters that spread rapidly. The TV anime by WIT Studio aired in 2016, directed by Tetsuro Araki, known for his work on Attack on Titan. It was followed by compilation films in late 2016 and early 2017, and the sequel film The Battle of Unato in 2019.
The Mumei Ranman scale figure is priced at 35,000 yen (before tax), with pre-orders opening on July 24 through the WIT STORE.
