Mob Psycho 100 has released a brand-new animated short movie by the original staff to celebrate the anime’s 10th anniversary. The video debuted during the “Mob Psycho 100 Anime 10th Anniversary Event: Reunion,” held on July 12 in Japan.
Set at the Spirits and Such Consultation Office, the new short features Reigen Arataka, Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, Ekubo (Dimple), and Tome Kurata, former head of the Telepathy Club at Salt Middle School. The story begins with an ordinary day before an unexpected incident leaves Reigen in serious trouble.
Alongside the video, character designer Yoshimichi Kameda shared a commemorative illustration and reflected on returning to the series. He revealed that nearly all of the original staff reunited to produce the new anniversary animation, adding that revisiting the first episode reminded him how distinctive Mob Psycho 100‘s visual style was.
The TV anime first premiered in July 2016, with the franchise celebrating its 10th anniversary throughout this year. Anniversary projects began on May 12, Mob’s birthday.
Based on the manga by ONE, Mob Psycho 100 received three anime seasons produced by Studio Bones. The first season of the Mob Psycho 100 anime aired in Summer 2016, with a second season following in 2019. Season 3 concluded the story after over 6 years. The franchise also has a side-story titled Mob Psycho 100 II: The First Spirits and Such Company Trip – A Journey that Mends the Heart and Heals the Soul, as well as a Mob Psycho Mini omake and a recap episode titled Mob Psycho 100 Reigen: The Miraculous Unknown Psychic.
