Netflix Releases English Subbed Main Trailer for Sakamoto Days Anime

Netflix has released a new English subbed main trailer for the SAKAMOTO DAYS anime, which will premiere on the platform on January 11, 2025. Studio TMS Entertainment is animating, with Masaki Watanabe as the director. The adaptation was announced in May and will have two split cours. Part 2 will begin in July 2025.

The new trailer is an English subbed version of the previously released main trailer. It features the opening theme song “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN” by Vaundy.

The protagonist Taro Sakamoto is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, well known for his roles as Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, Escanor in The Seven Deadly Sins, Gyomei Himejima in Demon Slayer, among many others. The rest of the cast was also introduced with visuals and trailers, including:

  • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura
  • Ayane Sakura as Lu Xiaotang
  • Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto
  • Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto
  • Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo
  • Miyari Nemoto as Piisuke

Besides the director Masaki Watanabe, the SAKAMOTO DAYS anime staff includes Yo Moriyama as the character designer, Yuto Suzuki in charge of the screenplay and Taku Kishimoto in charge of the series composition.

SAKAMOTO DAYS – Anime Key Visual

SAKAMOTO DAYS is a Japanese manga by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2020. There are currently 182 chapters, with 18 published volumes as of August 2, 2024. Volume 19 is set to release on November 1. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, while Netflix will stream the anime.

The story follows Taro Sakamoto, a once legendary hitman who retired to marry and have a child. Now he runs a store, but his past life will not let him simply rest. Despite having attained a different physical apperance, Sakamoto will not hesistate to protect his family and take down anyone who tries to put them in danger.
