New Japanese Prime Minister Fan of Demon Slayer & Akaza

The new LDP President Fumio Kishida (64), who won the LDP presidential election and is expected to be nominated as the 100th Japanese Prime Minister, is a fan of Demon Slayer and said that he’s a supporter of Akaza. Yahoo! News reports.

In relation to the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train Arc theatrical version which was broadcast terrestrially in Japan, he was asked: “Have you seen the movie version of Kimetsu no Yaiba on the television broadcast? Which character do you like the most?”

The new President Kishida said: “I haven’t seen it on TV, but I’ve read all 23 volumes of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He then said, “My favorite character is Akaza.” mentioning the name of the Upper Moon Demon who appears in the Mugen Train movie.

He also declared his commitment to the Japanese subculture and other industries, stating, “I will also work to improve the income of those involved in Japan’s soft power industries such as manga, anime, and movies.”

In response to his comments, fans on the Internet said, “Oh man, I can’t help but reply to this. I thought a politician would have answered Tanjiro, but Kishida-san unexpectedly went for AKAZA. Kishida-san seems to have understood the situation well”.

There were also comments like, “If he can understand the goodness of Akaza, you can leave Japan in his hands.” and “I guess you like his stoic personality.” The LDP-led coalition holds a majority in both chambers of the parliament. That means Kishida is already pretty much confirmed to be the new Japanese Prime Minister, which should happen after the parliamentary session on Monday.

Demon Slayer Season 2

Following the Mugen Train movie, Demon Slayer has an usual schedule for its Season 2. It will start with a TV version of the same arc on October 10 with an all-new episode. Focusing on the day before the events of the movie, it will lead into 6 more episodes that are basically the movie, with some new scenes and songs. LiSA performs the songs for this part of the anime.

Then the Entertainment District Arc comes along on December 5th, continuing the story with no changes due to ‘explicit’ content. It will have the main 4 character join Tengen Uzui, and they will be meeting Daki, voiced by Sawashiro Miyuki! The first episode of this part will be a 1-hour long special, and Aimer will perform the theme songs.

Funimation will stream both parts same day as Japan, starting with the Mugen Train TV version on October 10.

It’s cool to know that the Japanese Prime Minister likes Demon Slayer (just as pretty much everyone else) and Akaza, and we’ll see how he will affect the anime & manga industry when he’s officially on the position.
