Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Announcement Trailer

The Metroid series is a sci-fi action-adventure franchise developed by Nintendo, first released in 1986. Known for its nonlinear exploration, famous moody atmosphere, and unique style of storytelling, it helped define the “Metroidvania” genre and has become one of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises.

Players control Samus Aran, a lone bounty hunter navigating alien worlds, often in isolation. The series shifted to first-person with Metroid Prime in 2002, developed by Retro Studios, combining exploration, scanning, and combat. While the franchise has had periods of inactivity and mixed spin-offs, it remains critically respected, with recent entries like Metroid Dread renewing interest ahead of Metroid Prime 4‘s release.
