November 2022 News Highlights: Marin Kitagawa's Life-Size Standee and More

November of 2022 is behind us and it was truly packed with some interesting anime and manga-themed news. We got to see some new announcements, fun stories about voice actors, and unusual merch, but we also got to witness the ending of two very special manga titles. Here are some of the articles that caught your eye and that were among the top read in the last month.

Anime News

Sword Art Online anime’s 10th-anniversary event titled Sword Art Online: Full Dive celebrated the fictional launch of the survival death game with an opening video on November 6. 2022, which was the exact date when the servers opened in the story. It’s crazy to think that this date felt like far future when SAO anime first premiered.

Popular anime news articles also included Record of Ragnarok and TensuraThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The Netflix-exclusive Record of Ragnarok Season 2 anime released a new trailer along with the premiere date for the first 10 episodes (January 26, 2023). Meanwhile, TensuraThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime TV anime announced the third season with a teaser visual. 

Manga News

The most-read article in this category was about Chainsaw Man manga author Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Twitter account. His account got suddenly locked due to the age restriction rule on the platform: the mangaka poses as Koharu Nagyama, a third-grade elementary school student who is Fujimoto’s “little sister.” The incident led him to open a new account, under his real name, where he watched the sixth episode with tweeted live. However, he deleted the new account after the restoration of the original account, as he had originally planned.

Other popular manga articles were about the BLEACH manga author’s illustrations and the One-Punch Man manga author’s new serialization. Tite Kubo’s illustrations for the original Gotei 13 members were compiled in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump (#52/2022). On the other hand, ONE’s new serialization, titled Versus, began in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius (January 2023 issue). The magazine featured the series on the cover and compiles the 80-page-length first chapter including some colo pages. The story is set in a world where humanity is ruled by the Demon Clan.

Two popular titles came to a conclusion in the month: Aka Akasaka’s Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers.

Voice Actor News

The top news about the voice talent industry was about voice actress Tomomi Mineuchi’s retirement. Her voice talent agency I’m Entertainment made the announcement in late November. The voice actress is best known for her role as Illulu in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid anime. As happy news, voice actress Asuka Nishi, known for her role as Mimosa Vermillion in Black Clover anime, announced that she was five months pregnant with her first child.

Merchandise News

The most-viewed article of the month went to My Dress-Up Darling‘s main character Marin Kitagawa life-size maid standee. The item was available for pre-orders until November 23 and the delivery date is set for late December.

As for articles about figures, Chainsaw Man, and Overlord anime attracted attention with Power’s 1/7 scale figure based on the bathroom scene from episode 4, and Albedo’s 1/7 scale figure based on the second season’s ending sequence.
