VIZ Media announced that they have licensed Rooster Fighter (Niwatori Fighter), a Japanese battle action manga which is obviously also a comedy. The story is simple – the main character fights against strong monsters to protect humanity. Only the main character is also an extremely badass rooster. They describe the story:
In Rooster Fighter, giant demonic monsters wreak havoc and level Japanese cities! While the citizens flee in terror, it’s up to one brave rooster to stand his ground!
Shū Sakuratani writes and illustrates the web manga, and it originally started on Hero’s Inc.’s Comiplex back in December 2020. Its 1st and only volume (so far) was released on May 1 this year in Japan. For the North American release, VIZ confirmed it will arrive in Summer 2022. In addition, they announced several other titles set for the next summer:
- The Liminal Zone
- Crazy Food Truck
- The Elusive Samurai
- Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible
- Ghost Reaper Girl
- The Promised Neverland: Art Book World
- Secret Reverse
- To Strip the Flesh
- Death Note Short Stories
- Naruto: Kakashi’s Story–The Sixth Hokage and the Failed Prince
The Rooster Fight manga seems like it will be a blast, and Summer 2022 is about half a year away! Meanwhile, you can catch up to the current anime season with some of our most anticipated Fall 2021 anime list.
