Sound Euphonium Season 3 Unveils Episode 2 Preview

Sound Euphonium Season 3 episode 2 preview images and trailer have been unveiled on Friday. Jukki Hanada (The Dangers in My Heart) returns to write the script for episode 2 while Tatsuya Ishihara (Clannad After Story) directs and handles the storyboard. Kohei Okamura (Violet Evergarden episodes 8 and 9) is credited as the animation director for the upcoming episode set to release on Sunday, April 14.

Studio Kyoto Animation is animating the series with Shoko Ikeda in charge of character designs and Akito Matsuda in music composition. The cast includes:

  • Chika Anzai as Reina Kosaka
  • Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kumiko Omae
  • Ayaka Asai as Hazuki Kato
  • Moe Toyota as Sapphire Kawashima
  • Haruka Tomatsu as Mayu Kuroe

Sound! Euphonium is a light novel series written by Ayano Takeda and illustrated by Nikki Asada. Takarajimasha published the first volume of the novel in 2013. A manga adaptation with illustrations provided by Hami was launched in the following year. The light novel inspired a TV anime series that has two seasons, both of which were animated by Kyoto Animation. They aired from April to July 2015 and October to December 2016 respectively.

Yen Press licensed Sound! Euphonium’s novels in English and described the plot as follows:
Finding herself, one note at a time…After a terrible disappointment at the All-Kyoto Concert Band Competition, music has lost its spark for Kumiko. But her first year at Kitauji High School is a chance for a fresh start. So when it comes time to choose a club, she can’t resist joining the band again–even though they’re simply terrible. The strict new club director has promised to whip them into shape to reach Nationals, but the trouble runs deeper than just a lack of practice. Plus, the discord within the club tugs at Kumiko’s old insecurities. Will Kitauji High School find its rhythm before the competition? Will Kumiko?
