The Apothecary Diaries Reveals Episode 24 (Finale) Preview

The preview images and trailer for The Apothecary Diaries episode 24 (finale) titled “Jinshi and Maomao” are now out. The final episode will air on Saturday, March 24, at 24:55 JST, while the English subtitled versions come out an hour later. See the preview images below:

When Lakan loses to Maomao in a game of chess, he must fulfill his promise to redeem a courtesan from the Verdigris House. Just as he is about to pick from a line of gorgeous women, he hears a familiar sound of a lullaby.

Meanwhile, Maomao is called to Jinshi’s house and they talk about Lakan’s troubles, his obsession, and her complicated feelings towards her father. A few days later, he sees Maomao dancing beautifully by the castle wall.

The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Shunfunotomo’s Hero Bunko currently publishes the light novel series, J-Novel Club publishes the digital English version, and Square Enix publishes the novels in print.

The series also has two manga adaptations: the manga series of the same name by Itsuki Nanao, illustrated by Nekokurage on Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan; and “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Kokyu Nazotoki Techo (The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Maomao)” by Minoji Kurata on Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X.

TOHO Animation and OML are currently animating The Apothecary Diaries series, which is set to have a total of 24 episodes. It is available on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
