The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 revealed its second main trailer, new character visuals, and opening and ending theme details ahead of its October 2026 release.
The opening theme, “Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo” (A Bouquet for This Heart), is written, composed, and arranged by 40mP and performed by Kokorone. The ending theme, “Hakuchumu” (Daydream), is also written, composed, and arranged by 40mP, with vocals by Kagura Nana. You can watch the new trailer below.
Along with the trailer, the series released new character visuals for the main cast, including Kimihiko Kimizuka, legendary detective Siesta, Nagisa Natsunagi, idol Yui Saikawa, and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson.
As part of the anime’s fifth anniversary celebration, the production also announced several commemorative projects. Voice actress Saki Miyashita (Siesta) has recorded a cover of the Season 1 opening theme “Koko de Ikiteru”, revealed with a new music video.
The franchise has also launched a seasonal visual and voice drama project, beginning with a new summer illustration of Nagisa Natsunagi, whose voice drama will premiere on the KADOKAWA Anime YouTube channel on July 5.
It was confirmed that The Detective Is Already Dead light novel Volume 14 will be released in Japan on October 23, with its cover illustration revealed.
The first season of the anime ended on September 19, 2021, after a total of 12 episodes. Manabu Kurihara directed it at studio ENGI. The main cast consists of:
- Saki Miyashita as Siesta
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi
- Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka
- Kanon Tako as Yui Saikawa
The Detective is Already Dead is a Japanese light novel series written by Nigozyu and illustrated by Umibozu. Media Factory started publishing the series in November 2019. The series also has 2 manga adaptation: one by Mugiko (2020-2023) and one by Poni (2021-2022).
Yen Press licensed The Detective is Already Dead light novel series in English. Crunchyroll streams the anime, describing the story:
