The previously announced anime adaptation of The Fable has released a new teaser trailer. Ryosuke Takahashi, who worked on anime titles such as Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Panzer World Galient, and Blue Comet SPT Layzner, is directing the series. Tezuka Productions (My Home Hero, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses) is animating it.
Yuya Takashima is doing the series composition and writing the screenplay with Mayumi Morita. Meanwhile, Kyuma Oshita, Saki Hasegawa, and Junichi Hayama are doing the character designs.
The anime adaptation of The Fable was first announced in July this year. It adapts Katsuhisa Minami’s manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine from November 2014 to November 2019. A sequel titled The Fable: The Second Contact started in Weekly Young Magazine in July 2021. Kodansha USA has licensed the manga in English and describes the plot as:
When you’re the infamous “genius killer” hitman The Fable, many things come easy. Being a normal person, however, isn’t one of them. In fact, being told that he can’t kill anyone for a while may just be the hardest job he’s ever taken…
The manga also received a live-action film adaptation in June 2019, starring Junichi Okada, Fumino Kimura, Mizuki Yamamoto, and Kai Iwonaki. The film is available for viewing on Netflix. A sequel film titled The Fable: A Hitman Who Doesn’t Kill premiered on June 18, 2021.
Katsuhisa Minami is also known for his other manga title Naniwa Tomoare, released in 1999.
