The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War anime has received its first trailer and key visual, and it will premiere in 2023. Studio Tatsunoko Production is in charge of the production, with Hidekazu Sato as the director. Watch the new trailer:
Besides the director Hidekazu Sato, the main staff for the anime includes Mao Emura as the animation story designer and in charge of the series composition. Hideki Ryoga will also work on the composition, with Mina Osawa adapting Hara Shoji’s original character design for the anime. The voice cast for the anime includes:
- Makoto Koichi as Lavian Winslet
- Yuichi Nakamura as Martin S. Robinson
- Emi Bridcutt as Iseria Frost
- Yuki Ono as Talion Drake

The story is described:
The year 1205 of the Septian Calendar.
Lavian is a young girl born and raised in North Ambria, the poorest region in the northwestern part of the Zemurian continent. In order to protect her hometown and prove that she is different from her grandfather Vlad, who was once revered as a hero but betrayed North Ambria, she volunteered to join the “Northern Hunters,” the largest and most renowned hunting party on the continent, and carry out her duties.
One day, Lavian, who had repeatedly violated discipline in his devotion to his duties, is ordered to form a platoon with Martin, Iseria, and Talion on a foolhardy reconnaissance mission to the Erebonian Empire.

The anime is inspired by the 2013 RPG developed by Nihon Falcom. The game is a part of the Trails series, which is a part of the larger The Legend of Heroes series.
