The Summer Hikaru Died Manga to End in 2 Chapters, Final Release on October 20

Momokuren’s The Summer Hikaru Died manga will officially end in 2 chapters, with the final one set to release on October 20, 2026.

The manga’s official account announced the conclusion alongside the release schedule for its final two chapters. Chapter 50 is scheduled for October 13, followed by Chapter 51 on October 20.

The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mokumokuren. It began serialization on Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up website in August 2021 and has been compiled into 9 volumes as of June 2026. The manga topped the 2023 edition of Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for male readers, and it was also nominated for the 16th Manga Taisho. Yen Press licensed the manga in English.

The anime adaptation reached the top spot (#1) on both Netflix Japan daily rankings and ABEMA’s anime ranking. The series was co-produced by CyberAgent and KADOKAWA, with CygamesPictures (now Cypic) in charge of the animation. Netflix is streaming it worldwide.

The two main characters previously won the 2025 Best Ship or Couple award in our yearly ranking. In the main AOTY ranking, The Summer Hikaru Died ranked 2nd overall, only being 0.09% behind the winning Takopi’s Original Sin. Season 2 was announced immediately after the first season’s finale.
