Undead Unluck manga ends today with Chapter 239 after almost exactly 5 years of serialization. The series began on January 20, 2020. The cover of Volume 25 was revealed, and it was also announced that the final two volumes will be released in April this year.
Releasing on the official MANGA Plus website, the manga teased the final chapter with the following message:
“Let’s enjoy life together!
The final chapter in the next issue will have many more pages and a central position with a color page!!”
Yoshifumi Tozuka, whom Anime Corner recently had the chance to interview, wrote and illustrated the Undead Unluck manga. It is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, with 24 released volumes as of January 4, 2024. Volume 25 is set to release on February 4. VIZ licensed the manga in English, describing the story:
What happens when an unlucky girl meets an undead guy? Pure chaos! Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all. But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can’t die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he’s been longing for. All Fuuko wants is a whirlwind romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible.
But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
Studio David Production took on the anime adaptation, running a 24-episode TV season from October 2023 to March 2024. A 1-hour original anime featuring a new UMA is set to release later this year. with theTV anime staff returning. It includes Yuki Yase as the director, Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer, and Kenichiro Suehiro as the music composer. UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is producing.
