Sentenced To Be a Hero, a light novel series by Rocket Shokai, is getting an anime adaptation. This was announced during Dengeki Bunko’s 30th anniversary event. A teaser trailer has been released, although no information on the staff and cast has been released as of this moment.
The Sentenced To Be a Hero (Yusha-kei ni Shosu: Chobatsu Yusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku) light novel was first published as a web novel on the Kakuyomu website. ASCII Media Works later acquired the series, publishing it as a light novel with illustrations by Mephisto under its Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. As of this writing, there are four volumes out, with the fifth volume to be released on August 17. A manga adaptation was also released in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Comic Regulus.
Yen Press has licensed the Sentenced To Be a Hero light novel in English, describing it as:
Heroism—a punishment for only the worst criminals. Those sentenced to the fate of a hero are forced to fight at the front lines against the demon king’s army—and if they die, all they can expect is to be revived and continue the battle. But when their leader, convicted of killing a goddess, meets another goddess himself, the contract they forge may be enough to change the world…
