On September 20, Pokémon announced the release of the fifth installment of their music project, Pokémon Music Collective. The song for the fifth installment is called “Ghost Dive,” sung by Polkadot Stingray, a four-person Japanese rock band.
Polkadot Stingray’s vocalist, Shizuku, created the song based on an idea and her love for Ghost-type Pokémon. “Ghost Dive” is a fast-paced, high-tension song using Lavender Town’s music from the original Pokémon games as its foundation. Fans can watch the short version of the music video and the full version on Polkadot Stingray’s official YouTube account.
Visual studio maxillia is in charge of the production of the music video’s animation with Eita Watanabe (maxillia) as the director and editor, Mami Sonokawa (maxillia) as the producer and head of the animation effects, and Rise Haneda (maxillia) as the production manager. nekozemon handled the animation and illustration for this music video while it was published by Universal Music Japan. Fans can download the full version of the song on Apple Music. The song is available on various other music streaming platforms including Spotify, Line Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and AWA.
Pokémon Music Collective is a music project with the concept of using music from various Pokémon games to create original, new music and spread it to the world. They do this by bringing together artists from various genres to create collaborations such as the singer-producer imase (Sandland) and the K-pop idol group ENHYPEN.
Polkadot Stingray is a four-person Japanese rock band from Fukuoka, Japan. It consists of Shizuku (vocalist and guitarist), Harushi Ejima (guitar), Yuki Uemura (bass), and Kazuma Mitsuyasu (drums). They started their activities in 2015 and have sung a couple of anime songs such as “Aoi” (the ending theme song for Godzilla Singluar Point) and “Radiant” (the ending theme song for Radiant).
