Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7 emphasizes the cute moments between Ryuto and Runa, with her confidently declaring him as her boyfriend to fend off unwanted attention. The growing relationship between the two is heartwarming, especially when Runa tries to surprise Ryuto with dinner.
Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7 starts out really strong. It begins with Ryuto dreaming about being on the beach and enjoying life. He wakes up to find Runa on top of him, asking how long he plans to stay in bed. Realizing that the beach scenario wasn’t just a dream and that he’s now living under the same roof as Runa for the summer, they both start working at her uncle’s restaurant. Ryuto, being a first-timer at work, is awkward while Runa on the other hand, is outgoing.
Later, Ryuto is studying after receiving a box of his school stuff from his parents. Two guys hit on Runa so Ryuto steps in, emitting an awkward vibe that prompts them to leave. Before departing, however, they ask Runa to choose between the three of them. She pulls Ryuto and says that Ryuto is her boyfriend. At the house, he also overhears Runa talking to her grandma about having no potatoes because apparently, Runa planned to surprise Ryuto with his favorite dish, meat and potatoes. However, Ryuto confronts them so Runa reveals her intention of her dinner surprise. In the end, they decide to go out and buy the potatoes together.
Another highlight of Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7 is Maria. The next scene involved Runa and Maria’s mom talking to Maria about visiting Granny’s house, as well as attending the festival. Maria agrees at first but backs out when her mom mentions that they are at Granny’s house. Instead, she claims that she has plans with friends for that weekend. Upon hearing about Maria’s weekend plans, Runa and Ryuto realize that she is trying to avoid them due to the previous situation. Runa expresses her desire to get closer to Maria while emphasizing their sisterly bond. Despite the strained relationship, Runa aims to build a friendship first, and maybe in the future, she and Ryuto can strengthen their connection with Maria.
My dislike for Maria is well-known since I’ve made it clear in my previous episode 6 review. Although I’m pleased that Runa wants to rebuild her relationship with Maria — especially since it’s reminiscent of a time when their parents were still together before the divorce– however when I first saw Maria, I thought that she should stay away and not attend the festival so that she could avoid causing any more trouble. Thankfully, she didn’t go. In the last episode, I deliberately avoided featuring pictures of Maria in my article even though she played a significant role. Simply put, I don’t like Maria, so I sure did not add pictures of her in my episode review.
I also raised the question of whether Maria was insane and a comment on Facebook (yes, I read comments) said that she is insane but has genuine feelings for Ryuto despite the complicated dynamic with Runa. The comment also talked about Maria’s diary with her feelings in it. As I said before, I am not a manga reader of this series, but I hope to discover more about Maria’s character and connect the dots. As of now, I don’t have a favorable opinion of Maria due to her actions in episode 6. I will not forgive her for pretending to be Runa so she can get Ryuto first.
Moving on, episode 7 continues with Runa’s uncle mentioning Runa and Ryuto’s two-month anniversary and suggesting that Ryuto should surprise her with a gift. So, Ryuto went to the festival stalls a bit early to find a suitable gift for their anniversary. Upon returning home, he found Runa dressed in a yukata and she revealed there was one for him to wear as well. Together, they enjoyed the festival’s various activities, the kind commonly seen in anime festival episodes.
While waiting in line, Runa spotted a jewelry stall and saw a June Moonstone ring that she wanted, but sadly, it was sold out. Later in the night, Ryuto expressed that everything was new to him. This made Runa sad because these experiences were not new to her. She had always envisioned her first love and relationship to be with the person she would eventually marry, so this realization brought her to tears. However, Ryuto reassured her, emphasizing that they were experiencing these things for the first time together, creating multiple happy memories in their relationship. This assurance brought joy to Runa, stopping her tears.
In the final scene, Ryuto’s surprise is that he presents a Moonstone ring as a gift for their two-month anniversary, making Runa incredibly happy, and even causing her to tear up with genuine gratitude for their relationship. They later sat on a bench, and as the fireworks lit up the sky, they shared a kiss, marking the end of Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7.
Man, this anime has me feeling really jealous about their relationship. He bought the ring in advance as an anniversary gift, and it turned out it was something she really wanted. It makes me envious, especially since I’m in college now, and wish I could experience that. Instead, I find myself studying and tearing up over homework. But hey, I’m genuinely happy for them, so it’s all right.
All in all, Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7 was the best episode ever. There wasn’t much drama; in fact, it was filled with wholesomeness. I couldn’t help but feel incredibly happy for them, even at 2:00 in the morning. I consider this episode the highlight of the series so far. I hope the next few episodes will continue to be just as good, even if some drama will come in the future.
I give Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 7 a 9.5/10.
