On March 7, 2024, the popular mobile game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) announced an upcoming partnership with the Spy x Family franchise, promising a “whole host of thrilling content for fans of PUBG MOBILE and SPY×FAMILY to dive into.”
Details surrounding the collaboration will be announced later. However, PUBG‘s previous anime collaborations with Dragon Ball Super, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Jujutsu Kaisen give a sense of what fans can expect. Readers can check out official clips of past collaborations below:
As seen above, the collab showcases Jujutsu Kaisen character skins, and special weapons like the Cursed Shell Grenade at 0:42 and the Prison Realm which releases drop items (1:25). Below, the PUBG x Dragon Ball Super collaboration unveiled new locations, skills, and items inspired by the series, and also allowed players to summon Shenron. Check it out below.
The Spy x Family franchise’s gaming footprint continues to grow with the new PUBG collaboration. It follows the Spy x Family and Street Fighter 6 collaboration announced last year and joins Spy x Family: Operation Memories as games arrive for international players in the coming months.
Spy x Family began as a manga series serialized on Shonen Jump+ in March 2019, surpassing 35 million copies in circulation across 13 volumes as of March 2024. The series has been adapted into two popular anime seasons by CloverWorks and Wit Studio, as well as the blockbuster film Spy x Family Code: White. Crunchyroll announced Code: White‘s international release dates last month.
Fans can watch Spy x Family on Crunchyroll. The series won Best Comedy and “Must Protect At All Cost” Character at the recent Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The series is described:
