The previously announced anime film for the Strawberry Prince J-pop group titled STPR Movie: Hajimari no Monogatari ~Strawberry School Festival!!!~ will be released in Japanese theaters on July 19. A new trailer and visual have been released.
LIDENFILMS is animating the film under the direction of Naoki Matsuura. Chika Suzumura is writing the scripts, Yumi Nakamura is designing the characters, and Yoneda Takahiro will serve as the art director. Masato Kashiwabara is credited for the original story, while his entertainment persona for the group, named Nana Mori, is credited as the chief production supervisor and planning producer for the film.
The Strawberry Prince anime film is based on the popular group of the same name, currently handled by STPR Records. It was formed in 2016 and is composed of six members: Nanamori, Jel, Satomi, Colon, Rinu, and Root. Former members included Kanna, Shiyun, Ketchup, and Yuuku. Each of the members are represented with an illustrated character when appearing in videos.
The group has released four albums: Strawberry Love! (2019), Strawberry Next! (2020), Strawberry Prince (2020), and Here We Go!!. They have also released four EP collections namely Are You Ready? (2022), Strawberry Prince Lofi Remix (2022), Strawberry Prince Lofi Remix Vol.2 (2022), and more recently Rainbow-Colored History (2023).
Their tracks have been used in various media, including “Gingira Ginga” and “Dai Uchū Rendezvous” which were used as ending themes for the Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu video game. The same tracks were also used as the opening themes for the 2019 anime Yo-kai Watch Jam – Yo-kai Academy Y: Close Encounters of the N Kind.
