Episode 3 of Mushoku Tensei came out today, and it was beautiful as expected! There was not an opening sequence yet again, and the song was played through the anime instead. We caught a glimpse of Roxy at the beginning, and then we saw that Rudy keeps a sacred relic from his master. He even worships and prays to it, as any true student of culture would. As usual, the artstyle is very pleasant to the eye, and here’s a shot from during the time the opening song was playing.
While on his walk or something, Rudy saw a person getting bullied and helped. The adorable Sylph, who he thought was a boy, became his friend and he quickly started teaching magic to her. He noted that his cute face would make a shotacon happy, and got jealous while also thinking it might eventually get some girls for him too.
His dad, wanting to something like a good father, reprimanded Rudy for hitting one of the bullies. The kid’s mom complained and Paul got taught a lesson by Rudy, though he did slap him first. It’s pretty interesting watching it knowing Rudy’s experience from his past life, and the part when he mentioned his 20 years of unwinnable arguments was priceless. Some time later, we got see more of the cool animation as Sylph learned the wordless incantations. Then they both ran around having fun until they crashed.
A new friend
Then rain started falling and they had to run to Rudy’s house. Not knowing Sylph is actually Sylphiette, Rudy got into an awkward situation when he asked her to bathe with him. She was embarrassed, but he tricked her and pulled down her pants. What happened next shocked everyone involved, including him.
After some expert advice from his dad, he luckily managed to make up with Sylph at the end of the episode (not really thanks to the advice). She’s Rudy’s first girl friend, so he’ll probably learn a lot from hanging out with her.
Episode 3 of Mushoku Tensei is already out on Funimation. The title of the next episode is “Family Emergency Meeting” and we might see some more serious development. If you enjoyed the episode, you can vote for it as the best anime of this week on our weekly poll!
The artist of the original light novels also shared a cute Sylph illustration to commemorate the 3rd episode:
In case you haven’t checked the anime out yet, the story goes:
When a 34-year-old underachiever gets run over by a bus, his story doesn’t end there. Reincarnated in a new world as an infant, Rudy will seize every opportunity to live the life he’s always wanted. Armed with new friends, some freshly acquired magical abilities, and the courage to do the things he’s always dreamed of, he’s embarking on an epic adventure—with all of his past experience intact!
It only has 3 episodes at the moment, and it’s definitely worth a shot!
