A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4 (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun) anime was officially announced to be in production at the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival 2025. Series director Tatsuyuki Nagai and studio J.C.Staff are both returning to produce the highly anticipated sequel. You can check out the announcement trailer below.

Railgun Season 4’s announcement comes five years after the previous season, which aired from January to September 2020. It was also revealed that fellow spinoff series Toaru Anbu no Shoujo Kyousei (ITEM) by Kazuma Kamachi and Nilitsu will also be receiving an adaptation. You can also check that out below.
A Certain Magical Index + Spinoffs Is One of the Best-Selling Light Novel Franchises of All Time
A Certain Scientific Railgun adapts the manga series of the same name and is a spinoff to the A Certain Magical Index light novel series. Kazuma Kamachi writes both, with Index among the best-selling series of all time. The series as a whole has over 31 million copies in circulation.
Yen Press licenses the Railgun manga in English, describing it:
