The Promised Neverland manga is celebrating its 8th anniversary this year, and the manga’s illustrator Posuka Demizu drew a special illustration to commemorate it. The official X account also teased that more celebratory events will be coming soon.
The Promised Neverland is a Japanese manga series written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from August 2016 to June 2020, ending with a total of 181 chapters compiled into 20 volumes. It has a TV anime adaptation of two seasons by CloverWorks, along with a live-action movie from 2020. There is also an American live-action series being developed by Amazon Studios.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyroll streams the anime. VIZ describes the story of the first volume:
Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
