Rachael Lillis, best known for voicing Misty and Jessie in the Pokémon anime series, passed away at the age of 46 after battling breast cancer. A GoFundMe campaign had been started by her sister, Laurie Orr, to help fund medical needs in May this year. It was also in an update on the GoFundMe page that she shared the news of Rachel’s passing.
She asks for peace as they grieve the loss and says the gathered funds will go the remainder of the medical bills, a memorial service, and causes in her name toward efforts to combat cancer.
Besides her voice acting work, Rachael Lillis also worked as a scriptwriter and appeared in various theater productions, animated series and independent films. Besides Misty and Jessie, she also provided the voice to multiple Pokémon, some of which were Jigglypuff, Vulpix, Goldeen, Torchic, and Beautifly. Some of her other anime roles were Mito Freecss and Cocco in Hunter x Hunter and Ryoko Miyazono in Your Lie in April.
