Hunter x Hunter Could Be Getting A New Anime Project

I know Hunter x Hunter fans have learned to be skeptical by now, so here’s a potential teaser for a new anime project for the franchise. Namely, the voice actress of Gon tweeted the following:

It roughly translates to:
It’s Friday.

I met my partner.
She also posted. Fufufu.
Yes, we were recording for that project.
I think you will soon know about it.
I return to my origin.

Her ‘origin’ could easily refer to the fact Hunter x Hunter was her first lead role as a voice actress. To add more to the theory, the voice actress of Killua, Mariya Ise, had previously tweeted as well:

Rough translation:
I’ve been doing some recording today 🤭💓.
Happy to see my buddy on the way home too!
😆✨
I can’t wait to tell you about it, but I can’t show you yet… so I’m going to mosaic it!
(What the heck is that? I wonder what it is!)

Mariya Ise also shared the tweet by Megumi Han, with a “Fufufu Fufufu”

It may be gasping for straws, but we will likely know what they were teasing soon. And the chance that it’s a new Hunter x Hunter anime exists, though it might also end up being a game or something not related to the franchise. Either way, a continuation would be amazing, but let’s remain skeptical until some clear details get revealed!

Yoshihiro Togashi wrote and illustrated Hunter x Hunter. It was first serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 1998. Still, the frequent hiatuses have slowed it down a lot. It’s currently at 390 chapters and 36 volumes released, with over 800 days of hiatus. Togashi-sensei also wrote Yu Yu Hakusho, and he married Naoko Takeuchi, the author of Sailor Moon back in 1999. You can read the manga for free on the MANGA Plus website too!

You can read the synopsis of Hunter x Hunter below:

Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. Gon Freecss is a naive-yet-determined young boy who aspires to join the ranks of these individuals, in order to find his missing father Ging – a master of the profession himself. To reach his goal, he partakes in the formidable Hunter Exam. A series of tests that push the participants to their physical and mental limits, with a Hunter License as the prize. During the exam, Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. But with the sinister Hisoka standing in their way, will Gon and his friends be able to succeed in obtaining their reward, or even escaping with their lives?

It’s a great anime and I definitely suggest watching it. However, you might end up reading the manga afterwards and then waiting indefinitely for more. Nobody knows when Hunter x Hunter will resume, but hopefully the hiatus doesn’t go far above the 100 consecutive issues…
