Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter will release its long-awaited Volume 39 on July 3, marking the manga’s first new volume in nearly two years. The previous volume, Volume 38, was released in Japan on September 4, 2024. As a result, the upcoming release arrives approximately one year and ten months after the last volume.
Togashi shares occasional updates on his X account. He previously shared in a May 26 update that he’d completed the manuscript for Chapter 421. He has been drawing the Hunter x Hunter manga since March 1998. It is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, while it returned after a 4-year hiatus in October 2022.
Since then, there have been irregular releases, and the manga was confirmed to be moving away from a weekly schedule in December 2022. The manga released Volume 38 on September 4, 2024 in Japan, while Chapter 401 was released in the WSJ magazine on October 7 of the same year. It went up to 410 chapters before going on break again on December 8, 2024.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, describing the story:
Gon, a young boy who lives on Whale Island, dreams of becoming a Hunter like his father, who left when Gon was still young.
The series released two new games since then: HUNTER x HUNTER: NEN IMPACT, which launched on July 17, 2025, and HUNTERxHUNTER NENxSURVIVOR, which launched on February 17, 2026.
