My Dress-Up Darling sequel anime has revealed a 2025 release date in the cover of the upcoming Young Gangan magazine cover. The sequel anime was announced in September 2022, with no details revealed until today. The format of the new anime has still not been specified. The text in the bottom right corner reads:
“Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling) TV Anime Sequel Broadcasting in 2025!”
My Dress-Up Darling is a Japanese manga series written and drawn by Shinichi Fukuda. Square Enix is publishing it in both Japanese and English. The first anime adaptation was animated by CloverWorks and directed by Keisuke Shinohara. It was a 12-episode TV anime which aired in Winter 2022. The voice cast includes:
- Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa
- Shouya Ishige as Wakana Gojo
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Sajuna Inui
- Hina Youmiyama as Shinju Inui
- Atsushi Ono as Kaoru Gojo
- Nowa Sugaya as Larissa Tago Takeda
- Misaki Kuno as Liz
- Sakura Tange as Mirai Tengeji
- Akira Sekine as Rune
- Yusuke Shirai as Kaname
The anime was directed by Keisuke Shinohara, with series composition by Yoriko Tomita, character designs by Yusuke Yamamoto and Kazumasa Ishida, and music by Takeshi Nakatsuka. Crunchyroll is streaming it.
The story follows Wakana Gojo, a high school boy with the goal to become a kashirashi, a master craftspan of Japanese Hina dolls just like his grandfather. He meets Marin Kitagawa, one of the popular girls in schools, whose passion is cosplaying. Now Wakana crafts incredible costumes for Marin, as the two break through the cosplay season while slowly growing feelings towards each other.
The franchise also got a TV drama adaptation this year.
