The previously announced Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective anime revealed a new trailer and visual at the Aniplex Online Fest 2024. Additionally, the main cast and a January 2025 release date were also announced.
Studio Project No. 9 is animating the series, with Kazuya Iwata as director. Satori Sugizawa is writing the series composition and script alongside Yuko Kakihara. Yuka Takashina is designing the characters, while fox capture plan is composing the music. The main cast consists of:
- Ayane Sakura as Takao Ameku
- Kensho Ono as Yu Takanashi
- Manaka Iwami as Mai Konoike
- Nana Mizuki as Mazuru Ameku
- Fumihiko Tachiki as Owashi Ameku
The anime is adapting the novel series written by Mikito Chinen and illustrations provided by Noizi Ito. It was first serialized under Shinchosha’s Shincho Bunko Nex imprint from September 2014 to August 2022, with 13 published volumes.
It was then moved to Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha’s Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha Bunko imprint in October 2023. The 13 volumes were re-published, and the seroies currently has 16 volumes in circulation. There is also a manga adaptation with art by Hiroki Ohara. Shinchosha published the series in its Monthly Comic @ Bunch magazine from April 2016 to March 2018.
The series centers on Ameku Takao, a brilliant doctor assigned to uncover the truth behind a mysterious disease afflicting the general diagnostic department at Tenikai General Hospital. Throughout the investigation, numerous unexplained murders and mysteries come up within the hospital wards, which the government authorities cannot explain.
