If there’s one thing you can expect from Oshi no Ko, it’s 10/10 music. From Yasobi’s “Idol,” which has amassed over 500 million video views and topped charts upon its release, to “Burning” by Hitsujibungaku, the show is a musical powerhouse. In Season 2’s final episode, the show’s home-grown idol group B-Komachi proved they’re just as capable of bringing a chart topper with the debut of “Pop in 2.” Composed by Tsumugi Shachi and Kushita Mine, B-Komachi’s “Pop in 2” is a drug-induced party song.
B-Komachi’s Pop in 2 Is a Color Bomb of a Banger
The J-pop banger was arranged by Kushita Mine and features lyrics by Tsumugi Shachi. Yasuhiro Irie directed the music video, which is available on the official Oshi no Ko YouTube channel. And to say it’s a color bomb of catchy animation is an understatement. B-Komachi’s “Pop in 2” is a guaranteed massive hit, it’s as nonsensical as it is catchy. And seeing as how it has surpassed 665,000+ views in a few hours, that statement isn’t hyperbole.
The YouTube channel also released a live choreography video of the song. B-Komachi’s second alliteration consists of Kana Arima (VA Megumi Han), MEM-cho (VA Rumi Okubo), and Ruby Hoshino (Yurie Igoma).
Daisuke Hiramaki directed the second season of Oshi no Ko anime. Kanna Hirayama acted as the show’s chief animation director and character designer. Cyber Agent., Delfi Sound, Kadokawa, and Shueisha acted as producers for the show. Doga Kobo was in charge of the show’s animation. The anime adapts Aka Akasaka and Meno Yokoyari’s manga of the same title, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump. The producers have confirmed a third season of the anime and a live-action adaptation.
Oshi no Ko follows Dr. Gorou, a die-hard Ai Hoshino fan who’s a gynecologist in a rural town’s hospital. By a twist of fate, he becomes Ai Hoshino’s obstetrician when the young starlet, seeking to conceal her pregnancy, books a stay at his hospital. Trying to assure his beloved idol that all is well, he promises to be with her up until the birth of her twins. However, a crazed fan shatters his promise when he kills Dr. Gorou. Yet, his connection to her doesn’t end with his life, as he’s reborn as one of her twins. Unfortunately, a long life together isn’t in the cards for the Hoshino family. Dark times lie ahead for them and the reborn Dr. Gorou.
