The Apothecary Diaries revealed a special autumn/fall visual for December, featuring Maomao and Lihua together. The anime previously revealed numerous monthly/seasonal visuals on the 22nd day (Nekoneko Day) of each month.
The August visual had Maomao hanging out with Xiaolan, the September visual featured Jinshi and Gaoshun, the October visual featured Maomao, Gyokuyou and Lingli, while the November visual saw Maomao and Jinshi together.
The latest one has Lihua watching over Maomao, who is excitedly looking at daffodils.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 will run for two consecutive cours starting on January 10. Studios OLM and TOHO Animation studio returning to animate, Norihiro Naganuma as the director. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as part of their Winter 2025 anime lineup.
The main trailer for the anime introduced the theme song “Hyakka Ryoran” by Lilas Ikuta from YOASOBI.

Natsu Hyuga writes the The Apothecary Diaries light novel, with illustrations by Toko Shino. It is serialized by Shunfunotomo. The series has 2 manga adaptation, one written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage, and one written and illustrated by Minoji Kurata. The former is published by Square Enix and serialized in Monthly GanGan, while the latter is published by Shogakukan and serialized in Monthly Sunday Gene-X.
J-Novel Club is publishing the novel in English, while Squre Enix is publishing the manga. The story follows Maomao, a young apothecary who ends up getting sold to the emperor’s palace as a lowly servant. As she isn’t the type of character to just stay obedient, she ends up helping Jinshi, the handsome official at the palace. She ends up promoted, and now has plenty of adventures there, all the while accidentally making Jinshi fall for her more and more.
