The Apothecary Diaries revealed a special autumn/fall visual for the month of September, featuring Jinshi and Gaoshun enjoying a snack. They previously revealed a summer visual featuring Maomao and Xiaolan, and the anime currently has its 2nd season in production.
Natsu Hyuga writes the The Apothecary Diaries light novel, which features illustrations by Toko Shino. It’s serialized by Shunfunotomo. There are 2 manga adaptations, one written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage and one written and illustrated by Minoji Kurata. J-Novel Club (digital) and Square Enix (physical) licensed the light novel in English, while the manga by Nekokurage was also licensed by Square Enix.
The first season of The Apothecary Diaries anime adaptation was released in Fall 2023, with Crunchyroll streaming it. There is also Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto), a short mini-anime series which features Maomao explaining some things from the regular episodes.
The story follows Maomao, a girl who lived peacefully with her apothecary father until she was sold off to the emperor’s palace as a servant. Her skills as an apothecary and quirky character lead her into all kinds of situations, including the handsome Jinshi who falls for her and often ends up involved. With all kinds of mysteries and drama, Maomao continues to meet new people and develop her skills and relationships.
