Let This Grieving Soul Retire anime has announced a sequel (cour 2) immediately after today’s episode. Studio ZERO-G is in charge of the animation, with Masahiro Takata as the director. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
The voice cast for the anime includes:
- Kensho Ono as Krai
- Miyu Kubota as Tino
- Fairouz Ai as Liz
- Konomi Kohara as Sitri
- Jun Fukuyama as Ark Rodin
- Akio Otsuka as Gark Welter
- Haruka Michii as Kaina
Hideki Shirane is in charge of the series composition while Yusuke Isouchi and Shingo Fujisaki are the character designers. Lezel performed the opening theme song, with Pmarusama performing the ending. Both songs can be heard in the show’s main trailer.
The anime is adapting the Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Woe is the Weakling Who Leads the Strongest Party (Nageki no Bourei wa Intai Shitai: Saijiyaku Hanta ni Yoru Saikiyou Patei Ikusei Jutsu) light novel by Tsukikage (story) and Chyko (art). There is also a manga adaptation with art by Rei Hebino.
J-Novel Club licenses the light novel series in English, while Yen Press licensed the manga. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, describing its story:
Six childhood friends make a vow one day to become treasure hunters, and eventually grow to be the strongest heroes in the world. During his first quest, Krai Andrey realizes he isn’t cut out for the job. Even so, his friends make him their leader. Underpowered in the face of great expectations, Krai embarks on a reluctant hero’s tale of glory, headaches, and wanting to retire early.
